Durry Releases Indie Rock Anthem 'Coming of Age' and Announces Debut Album and Tour

Durry, the dynamic brother/sister duo, has recently released their fresh take on Dolly Parton's classic hit "9 to 5" with their latest single, "Coming of Age." This track follows the success of their reworked viral sensation, "Who's Laughing Now," and marks an exciting milestone as they announce their debut album, "Suburban Legend." Accompanied by a visually captivating music video, "Coming of Age" showcases the duo dressed in ironic office attire, performing amidst a sea of cubicles, leaving chaos in their wake. Check out the video below.

Regarding the new single, Durry explains, "Inspired by the 'great resignation' of 2022 and our own ability to leave our day jobs behind and fully pursue music, 'Coming of Age' reflects the reality of being trapped in a dead-end corporate job and the empowering decision to take control of your own future. Sometimes, growing up means realizing that the life you were told to strive for isn't worth sacrificing the life you truly desire."

Fans will have the opportunity to experience "Coming of Age" live as Durry embarks on a cross-country tour this fall. The 25-city tour includes notable venues like the Troubadour in Los Angeles, Racket in New York City, and Lincoln Hall in Chicago. Following their immense growth and a sold-out tour in 2022, Durry's upcoming shows promise to be electrifying. You can find all the tour dates listed below, and tickets are available for purchase now.

"Coming of Age" follows the band's breakthrough hit, "Who's Laughing Now," which garnered praise from publications like Rolling Stone and V Magazine. The band also achieved prominent recognition with placements on Spotify's "Fresh Finds Rock" playlist, Amazon Music's "Alternative for Summer" playlist, Apple's "Breaking Alternative," SiriusXM's Alt Nation, and BBC Radio 1's Future Artists, among others. Both "Coming of Age" and "Who's Laughing Now" will be featured on Durry's eagerly anticipated debut album, "Suburban Legend," scheduled to release on September 8 through Big Pip Records and Thirty Tigers.

This anthemic song delves into the daunting realities of the late-stage capitalist landscape within the traditional workplace, a theme further explored in "Suburban Legend." The album encapsulates themes of mundanity, ambition, perseverance, passion, mental health—and even Taco Bell. Durry was formed by siblings Austin and Taryn Durry during their time confined to their parent's suburban Minneapolis house amidst the pandemic, as a manifestation of their longing to break free. After their demo of "Who's Laughing Now" exploded on TikTok channel, gaining overnight popularity, Austin and Taryn recognized the opportunity they had been yearning for. They swiftly completed the recording and released the track just three days later, leading to over 4 million streams and ultimately allowing the duo to leave their previous jobs and pursue music full-time. This journey forms the heart of the narrative presented throughout "Suburban Legend," which revolves around confronting the pitfalls of adulthood and escaping the confines of suburban life.

Drawing influences from alternative, pop, and pop-punk genres, including artists like Weezer, Sum 41, Fountains of Wayne, and OK Go, the forthcoming album boasts 12 energetic, gutsy tracks, featuring Austin Durry as the producer and engineered by his longtime collaborator Jack Vondrachek. The album showcases Durry's razor-sharp lyricism and a contagious energy that will captivate listeners from start to finish.
